- Sodium Hypochlorite
Sodium Hypochlorite is a powerful liquid chlorine-based disinfectant widely used in swimming pool maintenance for effective sanitation and water purification. Typically available in concentrations ranging from 10% to 12%, it acts as a fast-acting oxidizer that eliminates bacteria, viruses, algae, and organic contaminants from pool water, ensuring a clean, safe, and crystal-clear swimming environment.
As a liquid solution, sodium hypochlorite is easy to dose and quickly dissolves in water without leaving any residue.
In addition to sanitizing, it also aids in the oxidation of contaminants such as sweat, body oils, and sunscreen that accumulate in pool water.
Sodium hypochlorite is compatible with most pool types, including concrete, fiberglass, and vinyl-lined pools, and is especially useful for large commercial and public pools due to its ease of application and cost-effectiveness. It can be added manually or through automated dosing systems for consistent chlorination.
While highly effective, proper handling is important, as sodium hypochlorite is a strong alkaline solution and can be corrosive. It should be stored in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and acids to maintain its stability and potency.
